$45 for a $50 visa gift card and groceries

Today I bought 4 frozen pizzas and gas-x + a $50 visa gift card for $45. I tried to use the gift card at the gas pump, but apparently that is a huge no no! I didn't know this. Now, my card won't be able to be used for 3 business days. There is a lot of trouble that you go through when using this card. I would rather use the old school gift cards and not pay the $4.95 fee. Oh well, I still got a good deal.
